Over One Million Fans Vote in Inaugural Facebook Football Awards

The Facebook Football Awards are an international phenomenon! Over one million votes were cast by fans from around the world in the recent inaugural Awards. The event was held at BT Sport HQ, hosted by Jake Humphrey and shown live on BT Sport 1, Football on Facebook (Soccer), Mirror Football and Mirror.co.uk On this occasion, fans made the ultimate selection.

Humphrey’s introduction to the evening quickly got to the point: “Isn’t it gorgeous?” he said, glancing at one of the sparkling trophies; “She’s pretty isn’t she?” EFX was commissioned to design and manufacture the trophies. The request was for something suitably prestigious for such a high profile sporting event. The result is an impressive column styled brushed aluminium design, each weighing in at an impressive three kilos and decorated on all four sides with deeply milled graphics.

Amongst the fans’ winners was Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal), who proved a popular choice as Player of the Year, and Harry Kane’s (Tottenham Hotspur) promising career was endorsed as Young Player of the Year.

The Toy Industry Awards support responsible toy makers as they provide the magic of play! 🪄 They host their exciting annual awards presentation for the leading retailers, products and suppliers in the UK toy industry. What a trophy!! 🎯 Standing at 840mm tall and weighing a hefty 16kgs (our biggest trophy to date) this wow award was revealed as the brand new trophy for the Paddy Power World Darts Championship at the Alexandra Palace, which started back in December and has just finished, raising £914,000 for Prostate Cancer UK after Paddy Power pledged to donate £1000 for every 180 scored in the tournament. Paddy Power then rounded this up to £1 million! This mega trophy recognised the darts player who achieved the most 180s which happened to also be overall winner Luke Humphries! Six members of our EFX production team, who worked on the trophy behind the scenes, had the honour of attending the event in December and were so excited to go!! It’s moment like these where the excitement is at its peak, seeing such a show stopping award go from creation all the way through the different production teams, to reality!!
