Building a Brighter Future with New Construction Awards

Winning an industry award is always a welcome accolade. Winning an award which has been judged by industry peers provides an additional tick-in-the-box for many recipients. This certainly proved to be the case for the new construction awards: The Construction Investing in Talent Awards 2016, which had its début December 8, held at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

Jointly organised by Construction News and the New Civil Engineer, the Awards focus on the human resources, recruitment, talent and learning development aspects of the construction sector. In an industry which employs hundreds of thousands of people, attracting and retaining employees is vital for its long term success. These new Construction industry awards recognise and celebrate companies which are achieving outstanding standards and results in this arena and the judging panel consisted of HR and talent experts drawn from inside and outside the construction industry.

The winning companies of the 14 categories were each presented with a personalised, engraved trophy. Special EFX was asked to design and manufacture them for this inaugural event. The exclusive design was created for maximum impact: both visually and when held by the winning recipients; they are impressively heavy to hold. Made from pierced, nickel plated aluminium combined with a digitally printed acrylic reverse; it is the event’s logo which forms the focal point of the design. The calibre and level of entries was reported to be excellent and attendance of the first event likewise proved the popularity of the event with over 400 guests attending the glamorous evening awards ceremony.

The category of Best Recruitment Consultancy was won by Contract Scotland, the Scottish construction, property & engineering recruitment specialists. John-Paul Toner, Operations Director at Contract Scotland, said “While we’ve been recognised at both recruitment & general business awards in the past, what makes this one so special is that it’s recognition from the construction industry itself.  To be acknowledged by the industry sector we serve as delivering a “best in class” recruitment service is testimony to the years of hard work and commitment of the team we’ve built at Contract Scotland.” Other winners included Willmot Dixon Interiors (Best Corporate Responsibility Initiative), Carillion (Best Graduate Recruitment Scheme) and Hydrock (Best Place to Work).
